Drin vs Postmark.

Postmark built a 15-year reputation on transactional deliverability by refusing everything else — including marketing. Drin respects that focus, then argues most teams shouldn't have to run two vendors: it does transactional, marketing, inbound and agents in one, for less.

// the short version

Postmark is transactional-only by design. Drin does transactional, marketing, inbound and agents — cheaper.

Postmark's discipline is real: separating transactional and bulk streams and refusing marketing keeps its IP pools clean, and it's been trusted for that since 2010. If you want a pure transactional sender with a long track record and phone support, it's a safe institution.

But that discipline forces a second vendor the moment you need a newsletter, and Postmark gates inbound to its higher tiers. Drin allows marketing on a dedicated lane, includes inbound on every plan, adds an agent surface, and costs roughly a third at the same volume — 10k emails is $5 on Drin versus $15 on Postmark.

#02 — Where Drin wins

The three that decide it.

DRIN × POSTMARK · WHERE DRIN WINSSHEET OF 3
01.1One vendor, not two

Postmark refuses marketing, so a newsletter means a second tool. Drin runs transactional and marketing on separate lanes, one account.

01.2Inbound for everyone

Receiving is included on every Drin plan. Postmark locks inbound to Pro and Platform tiers.

01.3About a third the price

10k emails is $5 on Drin versus $15 on Postmark — with marketing available and an agent surface included.

What Postmark does well

Postmark's deliverability reputation is the industry benchmark, and it's earned — by keeping transactional and bulk streams strictly separate and refusing marketing mail, it protects its IP pools better than almost anyone. Fifteen years of track record, dedicated transactional focus and phone support make it a genuinely safe institutional choice. Drin publishes no deliverability percentage (we think that number is usually theater), and doesn't claim a longer track record. What Drin offers instead is scope and price: the transactional job done well, plus marketing, inbound and agents, for roughly a third of the cost.

#05 — Switching

Moving over is a weekend.

  1. 1

    Verify your domain

One-click DNS via Domain Connect; a unique DKIM selector per domain. Warm up in parallel with your Postmark traffic.

  2. 2

    Move transactional first

The send API and SMTP map across. Message streams become Drin's transactional lane — same separation, cleaner UI.

  3. 3

    Consolidate the rest

Bring your marketing tool in-house on the marketing lane, and turn on inbound — both included, no upsell.

#06 — Questions

Asked about Postmark.

Is Drin's deliverability as good as Postmark's?+

Drin uses a unique DKIM selector per domain, plan-aware warmup, automatic suppressions and a trust engine. We don't publish a deliverability percentage — we think it's usually theater — but the fundamentals are all there. Postmark has a longer track record; weigh that honestly.

Can I send marketing email on Drin?+

Yes, on a dedicated marketing lane that's kept separate from transactional — so bulk behavior never touches your transactional reputation. Postmark refuses marketing entirely.

Do I need a higher tier for inbound?+

No. Inbound is included on every Drin plan. Postmark gates it to Pro and Platform.

Why is Drin so much cheaper?+

Volume-only pricing with no per-message overage games. 10k emails is $5 versus Postmark's $15, and you're not paying for a separate marketing vendor.
